Met de kustwandeling kom je langs rotspartijen, kreekjes en zwemstranden. Af en toe een verfrissende duik nemen…
In de Oriëntaalse Pyreneeën, helemaal in het zuidelijkste puntje van Frankrijk, ligt de Côte Vermeille. Ingeklemd tussen de Middellandse Zee en de bergen. Een rustig stukje kust van ongeveer 20 kilometer, waar kleine kreekjes tussen de rotspartijen hun weg naar zee vinden. Het is er paradijselijk mooi.
Badplaatsjes
Wat deze plek in mijn ogen zo bijzonder maakt, is dat de bergen vrijwel meteen bij de kust beginnen. Leuke badplaatsjes zijn Argelès-sur-Mer, Collioure, Banyuls, Port-Vendres en Cerbère. Daar vind je nog van die lieve mensen die zich niet laten meeslepen door de waan van de dag. Beetje vissen, beetje kletsen, wijntje erbij, en dan is de dag eigenlijk al wel weer mooi genoeg.
Mas Larrieu
Het natuurreservaat bij Mas Larrieu ligt ten noorden van Argelès. Het is een stukje laagland langs de rivierarmen van de Tech. Wandelpaadjes gaan door bos, duin en riet. Een paradijsje voor vogelaars en voor picknickliefhebbers, want er is een speciale picknickplek aangelegd. Mooi te combineren met een middagje strand.
Kustwandeling
Langs de kust loopt een mooie wandelroute, de sentier du littoral. Van Mas Larrieu bij Argelès loop je via Collioure in een paar uur naar Port-Vendres. Je komt langs rotspartijen, mooie kreekjes en lekkere zwemstranden. Af en toe even een frisse duik nemen is geen slecht idee, zeker niet in de zomer. In de haventjes onderweg vind je genoeg restaurantjes voor een verfrissende cola. Bij de VVV van Argelès kun je voor een paar euro een wandelboekje kopen met nog meer mooie wandelingen in de omgeving.
