De Pyrénées Orientales is een perfect gebied om te skiën en ook om uw zomer door te brengen.

Vorig jaar besloot ik na een dagje skiën nog even zo’n warmwaterbron in te duiken. Dat duiken moet je natuurlijk niet al te letterlijk nemen: ik probeerde er zo elegant mogelijk in te stappen. Maar na een dagje skiën viel dat nog niet mee, want skiën zit nou eenmaal niet in mijn genen ingebakken – ik barstte van de spierpijn! Gelukkig zit je dan in een spa met warmwaterbronnen helemaal goed. Het water komt hier op een temperatuur van 40° uit de grond omhoog. Ik ging naar de bronnen van Dorres, waar je heerlijk vanuit het buitenbad naar de besneeuwde bergtoppen kunt kijken.
Après-ski
Achteraf bezien een echte aanrader om je après-ski gewoon in een warmwaterbadje te houden. Toegegeven, het water ruikt naar zwavel, maar daardoor heeft het juist een extra zuiverende werking. En ook voor de rest kan ik alleen maar voordelen bedenken: je kunt je heerlijk ontspannen, je kunt er een hapje en een drankje bij nemen en na afloop rol je lekker rozig je bed in.
Drie locaties
Probeer het zelf eens. Er zitten drie spa’s met thermale bronnen in de buurt van een skigebied: St Thomas les Bains (bij Saint-Pierre-dels-Forcats), de bronnen van Llo (bij Eyne) en dus de baden van Dorres.
